battery icon on taskbar keeps coming back

I'd like to get rid of it (now have a better replacement, called BatteryBar) but even though I have it unchecked in the Power Options it keeps coming back after I reboot.

This is the OPPOSITE problem most people have had, of the disappearing icon that won't display even with the box checked! I want it to go away, and it won't. Any ideas?
