Need help setting up X60 internet access for RV trip

#1 Post by maryt » Fri Dec 05, 2008 7:21 am

Hi, all,

My husband is in the process of buying an RV for a trip through the US southeast -- in fairly unpopulated areas. I'd appreciate any advice you can give me about the best setup for internet access in the RV for times when we're not in a park that provides wireless. My x60 nontablet computer has a Sierra wireless 1xEV-DO network adapter and I'm not sure whether it's smarter to get a card to work with it (from whom?) or to buy a USB card.

(I don't care that the USB card would stick out.)

All advice appreciated,

MaryT

I would consider the Go-Phone idea in this thread. AT&T has pretty solid coverage in the SouthEast.

Thanks, Harry. Very useful thread, albeit sometimes over my head.

We're thinking of Verizon or Alltel for coverage purposes. If we're going to buy a card on ebay do we need to make sure the software that comes with it is designed for use with a particular provider? (ie I see Sierra 595U cards for Sprint and suspect I'd need to take that into account if I'm going to use it with Verizon instead.
