My battery life is starting to seriously diminish. I would like to buy a new battery; however, the last knockoff I bought as a spare makes my system complain (because it's not Lenovo branded).

Where's best place to get a battery in US and what should I expect to pay>

I take it you want a Lenovo battery? I think I paid like $90 for my nine-cell on Pricegrabber, but you got be careful as they have knock-offs there too. Could just post in the Marketplace forum. Sometimes someone there has what you need at good prices. I busted the palm rest on my R60. Cheapest I could find it was about $50 on the Internet. Someone here sold me one for $15. Fits better than the original.

They have been in short supply for the last couple of months. Best deal I could find for a real one was $166.

eBay. Seriously.

You need to be very careful that it's not aftermarket (some of the pictures are misleading so look closely)

The advantage: you can get the 8-cell or any other battery for much cheaper than MSRP

here's what I use for search terms:
X60 battery -"for" -"fit" -"fits" -"fo" -"4" -"tablet"
and search only within Computers & Networking

Let me put it this way...
I got the dock battery (MSRP ~$200, ~3h battery life) for $40 shipped and it had 0 charge cycles on it (the ad stated it was used, condition unknown, but guaranteed to work - a gamble that paid off).

I've seen new 8-cell batteries with warranty for as cheap as $60 shipped.

Cheers
