Problems with new LAN drivers

#1 Post by redburgundy » Sat Dec 20, 2008 10:25 pm

Two weeks ago I updated my Atheros ThinkPad 11b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter drivers to Version: 7.4.2.134Release Date: 2008/12/04.
And since then I've had problems. I never lost the connection to the access point, never lost my IP address, but downloading became very slow at random time. Pinging web sites and pinging the access point found return times of several thousand milliseconds, or no returns at all, for three or four pings in a row.
So I've rolled back to Version 5.3.0.85 and so far the problem seems to be fixed.

I, too, am seeing problems with the 7.4.2.134 Atheros drivers (on my Type 2613 T60, XP SP2). I haven't lost connection to my AP or anything, but suddenly my link speed will go below 100 kbps and stay that way until I do a "Repair.." in XP or some other similar reset.

I say we call this a bad driver and go back to the previous release. When I get a chance I may call Lenovo Support and report this; they'll never recall or fix it if they don't know. (Heck, I'm still waiting on a new, working driver for my aTI x1400 video).
