Hello -
The title does not refer to my type of computer or the women that continue to walk into the coffe shop I am sitting in (although that is nice).
I'm referring of course to the heat generated from the vrey bottom of my x61t which has the fan running constantly and his VERY hot to touch. So hot that that leather chair it was sitting on caused the laptop to stick to it.
Also, the left and right palm rests are very hot now as well.
The only thing I was running was my anti-viral scan that lasted about 45 minutes. It has been off and done running for quite some time.
I also downloaded a program to check the core temperature and I am running 70 and 68 for one and the other right now.
I run Windows XP and there is nothing else running in the background that I believe would make this machine so hot.
I have had the issue with the palm rests before, maining when I run my laptop connect card, but never when I am plugged in and running like normal.
I did drain my battery down to 20% and it's been recharging (8 cell) so maybe that is the problem.
Also, there is nothing blocking the fan on the left of the machine so that cannot be it as well. Thanks for the help!

i had a similar problem until i realized that i dint bother to look at my power settings in the laptop
just go over there, and see the power settings for each and every individual component such as wireless card, processor and also check for the fan settings..fiddle around with those settings and you shou underrstand it...
let me knw what happens after u fiddle around with those settings
cheers!!

Re: Super Hot x61t
If your machine still is under warranty and it is sticking to a leather chair, it is time to call IBM. BTW, the machine will run hotter on a leather chair (soft) than on a hard, flat surface. Laptops work better on a desk than on a lap.
