No WWAN Antenna in my X61s, how do i get one?
Re: No WWAN Antenna in my X61s, how do i get one?
THAT IS WHAT I NEEDED!!! Those drivers did it for me! Thank you so much! Now I just need the clear plate and the antennae. Thanks again!
EDIT: Wait a minute here . . . I just started going through what parts I still need from Lenovo to install the WWAN antennae. The kit for my tablet is FRU# 93P4365 and is $22. However, in watching the videos and looking at the part itself, I realize I also need a new rear LCD cover (the back of the LCD, as it were). My existing one doesn't have the notch out of the top for the WWAN antennae to stick out of.
That would be FRU# 42W2535 and is $74.07!?!?! A molded piece of plastic for $75? Anyone know anything about this?

There is a plastic "blank" which covers the opening on the side where the primary WWAN antenna mounts. Remove the plastic "blank" and mount in its place the WWAN primary antenna .Zuke wrote:...My existing one doesn't have the notch out of the top for the WWAN antennae to stick out of. ...

According to that, I'm looking for part #4, which has two pieces. Even according to the video, there's supposed to be an antennae in the top as well. Mine doesn't have a blank there.

The link you posted above is for the X61 Tablet. The thread title states X61s. On the X61s -- assuming that is the correct machine for you -- the AUX WWAN antenna is under the palm rest (on the right side), not in the LCD casing.
Re: No WWAN Antenna in my X61s, how do i get one?
No, I have the tablet. Annoying that there should be such a difference within the same model family.
OK then . . . can I put the antennae elsewhere within the chassis?

How would an antenna installed in the palm rest hold up for signal strength?
Ones like these that are ~$11

Re: No WWAN Antenna in my X61s, how do i get one?
What you are looking at in that eBay listing is the AUX WWAN antenna from inside a USB WWAN enclosure, such as the Sierra Wireless AirCard 881U or AirCard 595U. The primary -- and significantly "larger" -- antenna in those devices is built into the housing. Stated differently, do not expect that antenna in the eBay listing to perform the function of a primary antenna. However, as an auxiliary antenna, it mounts on top or next to the miniPCI Express card, and performs the function it was designed to perform.

OLD
Interesting Thread indeed. What i'm looking for.
What if replace the X61s monitor with a old X60-monitor which have antenna and wires installed? will that work? i actual found the ericsson card on ebay for $35.
i honestly don't like the 50hz monitor and the ugly Thinkpad sticker.
Thanks for the 20pin tip!
NEW:
So, i bought this f3507g now.
If pin 20 IS NOT taped IT WONT WORK.
AT+CFUN? will ALWAYS report 4. Changing it to 1 WONT WORK unless BLUETOOTH and PIN20 is taped.
It works with the second wlan antenna (black cable) on main and the WHITE on aux.
I don't really care about wlan, but that seems to work anyway, with just 1 cable, at 11b.
I made a frankenpad of my X61s with the X60 monitor with the white cable. I don't know if this a third wlan antenna or wwan antenna, but it works good, 750kb/sec with 7.2mbit connective.
Actual BLUETOOTH MUST BE turned off to get it to work at all if you don't upgrade the cables mentioned earlier in this thread. The LCD plate does NOT have to be changed, the light from the wwan slips through the bluetooth-lid.
This mod works perfectly on a X200s and maxing out at 750kb/sec with the third white wlan antenna as well.
I guess the only difference with the L-formed FRU and the real wwan antenna is that you will get lower ping and websites will load a bit quicker. I'm steady at 300ms and sometimes 70ms. It seems my connection sometimes get 3G and sometimes HSDPA.
I DONT have the second fan. but i will probably buy it now. The palm rest get's as hot as the old X60
