OSD not working after BIOS 1.22 update
I recently updated my BIOS to ver 1.22 through the Thinkpad System Update and now when I boot up my computer I get one of those Windows Vista problem windows that says "On screen display message generator for Thinkpad has stopped working."
Does anyone else have this problem? I haven't been able to find an install file for the OSD on Lenovo's website at all.
Thanks,
Jeff

Re: OSD not working after BIOS 1.22 update
Update:
I downloaded the Hotkey update for the X61 Tablet from Lenovo's website and it contains the On Screen Display application. Installed, restarted and the OSD worked for a couple of minutes. Then I get the same error message, and now no more OSD.
Update 2:
I used the Hotkey installer to uninstall the On Screen Display as well as the Magnifier. Then I installed just the OSD again with restarts in between each step. I still get the same error message at boot up, then I have to close the program (via the error pop up) and of course the OSD doesn't work anymore.

Why reinstalling the OS? You only need to reinstall or update the software/driver. If OSD is really screwed up by the BIOS update, reinstalling the OS won´t help, only rolling back the BIOS update...Speeder.dk wrote:Same issue with my X61s when i updated to bios 2.19... Re: OSD not working after BIOS 1.22 update
I thought about rolling back the BIOS update, but I didn't look into it even to find out if it was possible. Instead, I rolled back the Hotkey driver. The difference between the 2 wasn't anything that really effected me. I think the older driver doesn't allow you to customize size, color, etc of the OSD which I can live without.
My old driver was located in C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\HOTKEY
I just did a full uninstall with the new driver's setup.exe (reboots in between) and then did a full install of the old driver. This is how it will be for me until Lenovo decides to fix it.

It was just one of those Vista error pop-ups that tells you the program stopped and it asks if you want to check online for a solution, or just close the program.Marin85 wrote:BTW, what was the error saying?
This is what the error message said: "On screen display message generator for Thinkpad has stopped working."

I'm aware of that. But I was going to install x64 version sooner or later anyway... Btw, it did help reinstalling
(though i agree it would be sufficient reinstalling driver only) ..

Reinstalling the updated driver alone did not solve my problem. That was after a full uninstall (with reboots) and full reinstall (with reboots). After installing the old drivers, it works, but only includes the features of the old driver (of course).
