This might seem like a basic question but I wanted an opinion on this nonetheless.

I am thinking of completely removing all my programs and starting from scratch using the ThinkVantage option to do so.

I'm wondering if by doing so it will return my computer to the same fast speeds and boot times that I had when I first purchased it?

I have backed up all my files on my Seagate drive and I'm interested in possibly just using that hard drive to get all my programs that I need to run, clearing my laptop and making everything run much faster.

if anyone knows the answer here I would appreciate it. Thank you!

well its pretty obvious that when do a clean installation of any operating system, its going to be pretty fast!!

but as you load programs and data onto it, its going to get slower and slower
thats why you need to restrict strictly to the programs that you will be using day to day only
and also if you change your startup settings by going to start --> run --> type 'msconfig'
over there goto the startup tab and uncheck the programs that you do not want during startup
this will make a huge difference in your boot times especially when you have lots of programs

and also regualr diskclean up and system cleanup will run your system smooth and faster

also instead of using the default anti virus that came with your system, i suggest you use a liter one such as Esset Nod32 or the latest version of bit defender..they do not consume much processing and memory power unlike norton or mcaffe

Thanks for the information. I actually have disk defrag that runs every day so I never have that issue. I have been doing the msconfig and that seems to work a little, but I'm thinking a clean install would be better since I can access all my files on my seagate drive and just simply use that to save all files, extract them, etc. I'm gonna give that a try and see what happens. Thanks!
