I did a totally fresh install of my own XP and the grabbed all the needed drivers
from IBM. Its working well.

However, I dont use bluetooth unless I am backing up my Motorola phone.
Is there any easy way to disable this (to save power) ?

Can I just go into device mangler and disable it like I do with the wired ethernet
or is there a better way?

I dont have any of the cutsee onscreen stuff or hotkey software, since I dont use
any of those and I try to maintain as slim of an install as possible.

Thanks,

-JD

Then you don't have an easy way to disable Bluetooth, so use device manager.

Might not help... in my recent messing with USB, I found that on WinXP SP2/SP3 having device-manager-disabled USB device might actually increase power consumption by 2W. At least in T60, so maybe Santa Rosa in *61 somehow fixes that. Disabling whole USB controller did help, but there might be more devices connected to it...

You can disable it in BIOS though, but you'd need to reboot to re-enable it.

Would be happy to know if disabling the bluetooth device works for you (that is, it does not increase power consumption in Power Manager, though I fear that in such slimline installation you don't have that...).

You can use Fn + F5

Yes, you should be able to use Fn+F5, even without the hotkey software. The difference is that with the software, it pops up a dialog where you can enable/disable all wireless communications whereas without it, it just switches between all combinations (all off, only WLAN, only BT, WLAN+BT).
