Enabling BitLocker makes BIOS POST very slow (Win7 RTM)

#1 Post by pmeinl » Mon Feb 02, 2009 5:42 am

With BitLocker enabled using the TPM of my Thinkpad X61T the BIOS POST time increases for 1 to 17 Sec.

After the BIOS POST Win7 RTM takes 15 Sec to start.
So enabling BitLocker doubles my boot time.

Is this long boot time the expected behaviour with BitLocker, or can it be omitted?
Does this happe with all Thinkpads or only the X61?

The positive: Windows itself does not feel slower with BitLocker encryption. HDTUNE does not measure a slowdown.

I know this thread is very old, but I'm experiencing the same issue on Windows 8 with my R60. BIOS post takes 30+ seconds. No hard drive activity happens during this time, and I'm using an SSD.

Google doesn't return very many results, but it mostly seems to be Lenovo folks who are experiencing this issue. Are we just stuck with this problem with older hardware from Lenovo?

I never found a solution.
I posted this question in lenovos forum too and did not get an answer.
