X60s VGA output to widescreen monitors?

I'm a college student and I'm looking to purchase a used X60s to take to class as my old 15.4" HP is simply too big to carry around all day.

My only concern right now is the notebook's VGA output capablilties. I have a 20" widescreen monitor (1680X1050) and I've read conflicting reports as to whether the VGA port on the X60(s) supports that resolution.

Any input would be appreciated. Also, those of you who went from a touchpad to a touchpoint, is it a difficult adjustment?

Thanks

Yep, 1680x1050 works just fine. I've used an X60s at that res over the VGA port, both the one on the laptop, and via an Ultrabase.

I found the switch from touchpad to trackpoint very easy, though this seems to be one of those things everyone has a different reaction to.

It isn't really that difficult to adjust to the Trackpoint on a Thinkpad. The IBM/Lenovo implementation (IMO) of the trackpoint is really ahead of the other OEMs (inc. Dell and HP). The pointer stick is pressure sensitive for mouse acceleration and the middle button scrolling (both X and Y axis) works well too. Other consideration, is that if you are a touch typist, like me, you don't have to move your hands as far from home row in order to move the mouse.

However, everyone is different and personal tastes and preferences (and biases!) can affect any would-be adjustment from trackpad to trackpoint. There are strong proponents in both camps.
