Problems with power manager 1.51a?

Quite often after a certain amount of time .. the battery status icon in the taskbar gets "wedged" / stuck at whatever % of charge was on the battery at the time it got stuck.

Doubleclicking to launch the power manager and view battery status there does show the actual status (like 10% or something like that, with the battery indicator glowing orange, rather than the 60% I thought it was when I left my thinkpad on and went to get lunch).

Has happened twice so far within three or four days of installing power manager 1.51a - which I dont see as being of much use aside from the shiny vista style interface (which looks strange on xp sp3 I must admit..)

I'm having similar issues on a T60 after installing 1.51a. After a sleep/wake cycle, the power manager gauge stops working, and what's worse, I can no longer change any power management settings. I have to restart completely in order to get this functionality back.

I'm having this problem too, just before I was working without the battery and I plugged it in but power manager didn't even react! Its odd though because I used to use a sidebar gadget which showed the battery level and it too would have the same problem some times

As I remember, the power management driver was also updated rather than just the power manager. Ugh.. what an ugly bug to introduce, along with horrible UI changes.

Yes the old power manager looked clunky but it worked .. this new one looks cheezy and it just doesn't work :(

Yup, 100% agreed. This release definitely could've used more testing time.

So, is the "a" in "1.51a" actually "alpha" (as in something that's not even a beta, developer preview type stuff guaranteed to have bugs)?

V 1.51a looked and worked fine on my X61.

Anyway, version 1.52 is now available.

Cheers,

Bill B.

Where do you see that? For me, the driver is 1.52 and the Power Manager app is 1.51a.

pwr driver is 1.52, pwr manager is 2.42, uninstal you old ones, reboot, then re-install new ones.

I saw problems with v1.51a too, but luckily v1.52 is available as of 03/19/2009 at the same link as above (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-70602)

(for me, the gauge on the Taskbar doesn't even show up with v1.51a)

I've got it. At first, it appeared to address all the issues I was having.

But then I started getting duplicate Power Scheme entries - all the Power Schemes one-by-one would all become "Maximum Performance". I couldn't delete them or edit them.

So then I followed the tricks from this thread and got that to stop happening.

However, it seems I'm just about back to where I was before 1.52:

I still have an issue where the Power Manager gauge stops updating - it seems to happen when I go into standby, switch from battery to AC or vice versa, and then power on.

And when my system is in this state, I can also no longer change Power Schemes.

It's incredibly frustrating.

Is it possible that something from those workarounds in the thread I linked to above is doing more harm than good?

I've been suffering the same problem on a T61 for a week or two; haven't yet checked the wife's X61. Is an earlier version of the software floating around anywhere?

Where did you find it? Doesnt turn up in system update or in the list of available software and downloads when I search for my 1705CTO x60s on www.lenovo.com/support/downloads/

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-70602 says power manager 1.54 - which does fix the stuck battery gauge issue.

Version 1.54

* (Fix) Fixed an issue that the CPU could not enter C5/C6 power management state when Battery Gauge was enabled.
* (Fix) Fixed an issue that the Power Manager Gauge gave out.
