X61/X61s with SXGA+

Was this ever possible? I LOVE the X61 size, but the XGA screen is a no go for me. I know the tablet came with a SXGA+ screen for a while. I thought the s model had it for a short time a year or so ago? I do NOT want the tablet and need WWAN.
Can it be transplanted easily?

Not easily, but it can be done if you have unlimited funds and unusual modding skill ....

The above link is to add a TABLET sxga screen into the regular x61s.
To change an x61s XGA screen to a x61s SXGA screen is not that difficult. It will require you to open your laptop and is a lot like changing a motherboard.

..and where would you propose getting that SXGA+ screen for the X61s from since they were never made?

on a
tablet this is easy. however, the author of this thread has an X61
notebook, not a tablet. big difference.
