Hi x60 users:

My wife has a weird problem with her X60.

Here are the specs:
Thinkpad X60
Mfg# 40Y7001
serial# L#AEZ7K
4 Cell battery
WinXP Pro

X60 purchased about 1-yr ago. She just brought a new battery last week.

Problem is laptop uses up the battery extremely fast. With the old battery, power would drop from 95% to 5% instantly.

With the new battery, she drains 8-10% per 10-minutes of usage.

Any suggestions?

Oh ... my 2 x32s don't have this problem.

Thanks again.
x60 , x32 and my backup x32

Sorry, don't have a solution but you may want to remove the serial number of that machine from your posting (I doubt it has anything to do with the problem or potential solution).

Can you clarify whether the new battery is a genuine Lenovo battery? If not than that may be the problem. The old battery may just have died (can happen after one year of (extreme low or high) usage).

Also, what kind of power scheme does your wife use when on battery? Does the CPU still run with full speed? Is the LCD still at full brightness? Is the HD accessed a lot (either because programs need to access the HD or the system has to swap out memory to the HD because of insufficient RAM?

Maybe the new battery is not intact...
