X61s lid issue

#1 Post by Philippe Laurichesse » Mon Mar 02, 2009 9:26 pm

Just came across a video describing an issue with the lid on the X61s and realized that my X61s has something similar, and while I don't think it enough of a problem to go to Lenovo about it, I wondered if others out there had encountered the same issue with their X61s.

Here is the video :

My X61s does that too; I don't think it's a huge deal but still kind of annoying. My old X40 has a little wiggle, but it's about half the distance.

think this is normal across all the thinkpad models
1. T43 2668-B97 14" SXGA+ 1.5G RAM 9cells
2. X60s 1703-CA3 powerful

AFAIK this is designed to spread the pressure exerted in point on the lid from above towards the lid edges in order to preserve the screen.

no testing report to support this context.

I read it long time ago somewhere regarding the T61 series. I´ll try to find it for you.

Even so it makes the unit feel flimsy and the lid latch feel insecure. It's not consistent with the "fit and finish" for which ThinkPads are noted.

Surely the engineers could have come up with a more elegant solution.
