Battery runtime X61(s,t) compared to T61 (both 8/9cell)

I am in quite a dilemma at what notebook to purchase. I currently have a Z61e but want something smaller and in no way a widescreen, it should be 4:3, and long enough battery life...
So because of the 4:3, X61 or T61 are my only options. I would prefer the 12" but not over battery life.
With my Z61e, I can get around 6 hours out of my (quite new) 9 cell battery. With is good, and I don't want less than this in the future.
So I am quite sure to get the same with a T61, but the information about the X61 series differs really much.
And does the X61 Tablet lasts shorter than the normal X61 or X61s?
Maybe someone can shed more light on this. Will the L7500 based X61s last longer with 8cell battery or shorter than the X61 with a T8300(already 45nm process)? And how are these compared to a T61 with intel based graphics and 9cell battery?
----
I hate these times, when everything is widescreen
(reading pdf datasheets etc. a lot)
//edit1: removed that I also want 1400x1050 -- I have just checked myself that 1024x768 is really okay at this resolution and 1400x1050 is even a bit much (1280x960 would be preferred.. but not that much of a problem to have 1024x768)
//edit2: I informed myself a bit more.......

Maybe some people can just say their average runtimes their different X61 are doing with a 8cell battery?
Is (when not fully bright display, and just wlan+webbrowsing) 6-7hrs possible?

Yes, 6-7 hrs would be possible on a X61 with light use, dimmed display and a new 8-cell battery.

I can actually get more than 11 hours on my X61s with an Intel X25-e SSD when using light business applications, turning wifi and WWAN off, and having the screen dimmed. When I use my Verizon WWAN for websurfing, I get more like 5 hours. My Verizon USB WWAN (UM150) actually gets quite hot.

11h

Wow, I wouldn´t expect
so great battery life from a X61. Do you happen to know by how much the battery life is reduced when turning on the wireless (but with WWAN turned off), say wifi in power-saving mode?
Thanks,
Marin

Hmm, so I'm not sure if I will get the same time like on my Z61e (which runs 6-7h, wifi, halfbright display, but it is also a carefully optimized Linux, if not optimized it was more like 5-6h)
What OS are you running? And the CPU and screen would also be interesting...
It seems the X61s can just be get with a quite slow CPU, which isn't all that good.
Yeah using WWAN can probably run down the battery much....
Hmmm It would be really really great to get 7hrs out of a X61 with a T8300...
a bit offtopic: I still have a bit mixed feelings about the lack of a cd drive... how much does the X6 dock add to the X61, is it still portable enough with it (more portable than a 15.4" Z61e?), and how much does an interchangeable ultrabay battery add to the runtime (in hours)?
How thick will it be at the thickest point, much more than the Z61e at its thickest (which is 3,8cm or 1,5inch)?
Argh, it seems complicated to fulfill my wishes

If there would be just a 1280x960 13" notebook with internal cd/dvd drive, core (2) duo @ at least 1.6ghz and trackpoint and at least 6-7hrs runtime... that would be my favourite...

I regularly get 9 hours off of my X61s (8 cell) when working on documents (word/excel/powerpoint) or reading PDFs.

Do you have then wifi turned off?
Thanks,

Yes - and often audio muted as well. Brightness 10/15. That gets me down to about 8-8.5W.

OK much thanks! I guess the X61s is then the better choice for a longer battery runtime. That would mean I probably still get 6+ hours with wlan activated and all the optimizations in Linux.
I think I'll just get a slim/portable usb dvd/cd-rw then, and the ultrabase maybe for special tasks when the serial ports are needed. (or another serial<->usb solution ...)
Thanks!
//EDIT:
Oh and how much runtime can you get out of a X61 Tablet, much less than from a X61s ?
