built-in vzw wwan card interfering with sprint sierra card?

#1 Post by howhao » Mon Mar 09, 2009 1:52 am

I have a x60 with the vzw wwan "sierra-based" card built in. I do not have verizon, so I don't really bother with it.

I want to install sprint "sierra-based" compass usb broadband modem, but it would not detect in the smartview software, even though every time I plug it in, a bunch of sounds are made and drivers are installed/detected.

I plug in my blackberry curve to use tethering from the smartview software, and it works just fine.

any idea?

You may want to disable the Verizon card before you install the Sprint modem. You're dealing with two CDMA-based networks at the same time which is never a good idea.

I disabled everything related to that vzw card, under modem, network card, COMM ports,......nothing worked UNTIL i found it under usb bus and disabled it. Who would've thought that the built in card uses a usb connection?

works now - thanks for your help.
