I don't remember seeing a switch like this. The wifi switch goes directly to the board without wires...Did I miss something here?

Even the seller doesn't know what it is!

Could it be a switch that turns the LCD off when you close the case? (It does look too big for that.)

Hmm.. I don't remember X60 has that kind of mechanical switch either. It doesn't look like the lcd latch either.

That actually gave me another question. There is this tiny black thing branched out from the LCD cable near the motherboard connector end(you don't have to disassemble the LCD screen assembly to see it.) It attaches to the back edge casing right above the battery. What is it for?
PS. It's not showing on ibm website
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-62906
but it is in the HMM. And it gave me a hard time trying to re-attach it after I switched the motherboard and tried to put everything back together.

Can you see it on the service video?

I am afraid the service video link
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-64835
does not include the video explaining how to remove / re-attach the LCD cable or switch the screen assembly.

However the service videos are helpful and the system parts info are great. They really took the time making the video clips. It's too bad that I am more curious about something not so obvious.

It's getting more mysterious.

Sometimes a cigar isn't a cigar. It could simply be a listing error.

You could e-mail the seller to ask for more information, get the FRU number, etc.

it's the pen switch for the X60/X61 Tablet.   it's #26 here and either FRU 42W2556 or 93P4522 depending on which model it came from.

Ah that explains it. Thanks. I remember there is a similar switch on X41 tablet but it was build into the hdd cover.
