Missing X61T Tablet input bar

#1 Post by Ken Fox » Sun Mar 15, 2009 11:51 am

Hi,

I have a new X61 Tablet (Multitouch version) that I got for a very good price on ebay. It came with Windows Vista Ultimate, but I wasn't interested in the extra features so I installed Vista Business, for reasons of consistency across my many other Thinkpads.

I have a couple of X60 Tablets also running Vista Business, and these have a bar on the left side of the screen that has the keyboard on it, for tablet input of letters and numbers. I must admit I almost never use that, since I have the tablets mostly for their better screens.

In any event, I've gotten virtually all the Lenovo software on the machine that I want, but the one thing I can't seem to get is that retractable keyboard sidebar for pen input. I've loaded all the drivers I can find that look to be relevant from the Lenovo site, and played around with all the settings I can find in control panel and various other things that look like they might be applicable. Still, no sidebar.

Lenovo System Update appears to be down and has been down for a day or more, so trying that hasn't gotten me anywhere, either.

I must be missing something pretty obvious. Can anyone make a suggestion or point me towards the driver that I need to install? I am interested in knowing what control or driver is needed, and also if there is some way to turn it off later if I don't want it for any reason.

Thanks,

ken
