X61s, wlan dies

Hi!

I have an annoying problem that i wonder if anyone else is experiencing. When my X61s is inactive for a while, the wlan goes down, the access connection software becomes totally unresponsive, the same goes for the Vista wireless software. I have searched through the settings on power saving, and chosen the "maximum performance", but still, after just a few minutes of inactivity, the wlan shuts down. Anyone who has an idea?

I havent had this problem before, so i guess it might be problems with a newer version of Access Connections.

Thanks!

1. Device Manager -> Network cards -> your wifi card -> advanced/power settings (depending on OS) -> uncheck "allow windows to turn off this device to save power"
2. Access Connections -> wireless -> advanced settings -> power settings/max performance (or something similar)

Hope this helps,

Marin

Hi again!

I have made both these changes, but the problem remains. Any ideas? Hardware trouble?

Thank you!

It could be also some hardware problem. What model is your wifi card?

Something important to all those power-management-related settings/tweaks for the wifi. Over time I found useful to create my own power profile in Lenovo Power Manager, because upon reboot Lenovo PM and windows power settings tend to overwrite each other and thus any reasonable changes I have made before (due to the default profiles). I don´t know if this will help in your case, but at least it´s probably wort a try (additionally to the aforementioned "tweaks").
