No pen functionality in tablet mode

The pen has stopped working on my X61t in tablet mode. When I rotate the screen it no longer responds to the pen (whether or not I actually flop the screen down onto the keyboard). The pen works fine when the screen is in normal laptop mode, even when the screen is rotated up to around 175 degrees, but in that last few degrees the tablet functions disappear.

This is OS independent; same behavior in Xubuntu.

My guess is that there is some cabling issue in the screen pivot/hinge. Is there anything I can do about this, or do I need to send it in?

Thanks in advance,
David R.

Since you are sure it's OS independent, if you have a warranty on it, get it serviced. The digitizer (the thing that actually registers the pen function) is located right underneath the screen. Thus, the only thing that can be loose is the connection with the LCD extend board. Either way these are not customer serviceable parts and if you don't have a warranty they are quite messy to get at.

Thanks. It is under warranty (only 6 months old), but I was hoping there might be a quick (even if temporary) fix someone knew of, since I had plans for the tablet over the next few days.

This is probably the soonest I've ever had a TP develop a hardware issue (other than a bad HD) since a 701c many TPs ago.
