Humming X61T Hitachi hard disk

My new X61T came with a 7200 rpm Hitachi HTS723216L9SA60 hard drive. While the drive does not make any audible seek or head-parking noises (unlike the "clickdrive" in my X41T) it does, however, hum at 120 Hz while spinning. It's quite noticeable in a quiet room, and when using the keyboard and your hands are resting on the palmrest you can feel the drive's 120 Hz vibrations. When resting on a table, the vibrations are transferred into the table and are amplified.

Is this characteristic of the Hitachi drive or do I have a defective drive?

Some place the laptop on their body for a free massage . . . .

Seriously speaking, this sounds excessive to me--

I was afraid of that. Found two other colleagues with X61 Tablets and had them try my machine. They all agreed that the disk vibration was abnormal. Neither of their machines exhibited the same problem, but they both had Hitachi 5400 rpm drives. I haven't found anyone with a Hitachi 7200 rpm drive to compare with. I have a Seagate 2.5" 7200 rpm drive in another machine at home and it does not vibrate at all.

What would cause a disk defect like this -- an out-of-balance platter? Maybe I should take it to the tire shop and get them to do spin balancing with those little weights... :)

Update on the "hummer".

I asked Lenovo if they could replace the Hitachi disk with a Seagate disk and they agreed. Upon opening the box I found the exact same Hitachi disk that is currently humming away. Fortunately the new disk is completely silent and free of vibration, so I'm a happy camper.
