Is there a way to fix the shiny worn corners on the X61's? Same thing is happening to my T61, is there a touch up paint that can be purchased which will restore the finish?

I like that effect, and the shiny keyboard, too. It makes me feel like the computer's been lived in, gives it a sense of wear but without damage. As long as it's been inflicted in normal and genuine usage patterns, I think the shiny corners add a nice, comfortable feeling to the laptop, like a busted-up pair of Chuck Taylors. A ThinkPatina, you could call it.

That said, even if I hated it, I don't know of any products that can clean it up. Sorry.

You can replace the cover. You can get a new one around $30 from Ebay. But removing and installing a new one seems hard.

Try black chalkboard paint. You might have to buff it a bit, but it's the closest match.

The easy fix for a shiny keyboard is a new keyboard. However, a few years back someone on the Thinkpad email list did some experiments with clear spray paints; I can't remember whether it was transparent matte or the Krylon Fixative which worked for him, but apparently one of these was an exact duplicate of the matte finish the keys start with.

Brilliant....ha..ha..ha !
.
I love the concept you've just introduced, along with the perfect label: ThinkPatina
Just like my favorite leather (aged but incredibly well cared for) Coach briefcase. It has a wonderful patina, which now that you've put it that way, I can "apply" to my viewpoint of my favorite T60p.
.
Cheers...
