I have a problem:
I have replaced the internal 60gb drive on my Lenovo X60s with a Hitachi SATA-disk 320 gb - 7200RPM

Here's how I did it :
I made an image on the new disk with Norton Ghost.
I changed the S-ATA settings in BIOS from AHCI to Compatibility mode

My x60s can't find the new drive at startup - what have I done wrong....

I will appreciate help from someone...

The BIOS disk utility scan finds the Hitachi harddisk and say's that the Harddrive is OK!

Thank you

Well, if your old disk was set up to run in AHCI mode, and you cloned it to the new drive, then the setting should be AHCI for the new drive as well.

What do you mean by making an image on the new drive? Like, you created a file on the new drive with the image of the old one? That won't work.

You have to clone the old hard drive to the new one. Most of the people here including me had a positive experience with Acronis Migrate Easy software. Search the forum for cloning instructions, this has been discussed many times.

You need to make the new drive active: cloning with Norton Ghost.
