LCD and other assembly components required for X60 Tablet

Hello Guys,
Jeesh, been a member here for so long, and very few posts :)

Anyway, I recently got my hands on a brandnew X60 Tablet "base" - the complete computer without screen/hinge/LCD data cables etc.

I picked it up for $300 AUD, and it's a model 6365-CTO. This uses the Core 2 Duo L7400 LV cpu, and has one PCI-Express slot populated with a WiFi Intel 3945 card.

I don't know what happened to the LCD part, apparently it was smashed in a moment of rage by the owner, but the base appears brandnew, no visible wear on the palm-rests, or keyboard.

I populated it with 2x 1gig PQI 800 ram sticks, and it's pretty quick, running on an external monitor.

Now, here's a question for Bill Morrow or one of the other guys with contacts with IBM/Lenovo:

I need to get my hands on either an XGA touchscreen with digtizer, or the SXGA+ version with digitizer.

What the best would be would to try and fins a complete assembly, with inverter, LCD cables etc, rather than to try and build it up with the individual components.

Can you guys suggest (anywhere else than ebay) someone in the USA that can help me? I can do paypal/whatever your preferred method if you can assist, as down here in Australia they just murder me with the prices.

Even if I can find all the hardware, like the hinge, back lid, bezel, cables etc, minus the LCD panel, I will be pretty happy - I can then order the correct Boe-Hydis panel from where I can find it for a decent price. -> managed to get a back-lid, front bezel, hinge, cable essembly.

I am also looking for the following:

Bluetooth:
Cable - 93P4371 need this still
Daughter card (BDC-2) - 39T0497need this still

and

Modem daughter card (MDC-1.5) - 39T0495need this still

DIMM slot cover - 42W2543 have this

Hard disk drive cover assembly - 42W2544 have this

4- or 8-cell battery need this still

Your feedback appreciated!

Kind regards,
MrBean

If you end up going the "bucket of bits" route, I have a fresh and unused, refurb SXGA+ LCD panel with "G4" digitiser (Boe-Hydis HV121P01-100, as used on the X60t's)

Hello Rek,
Appreciated, and I may be forced to go down that path anyway :)

Can you please PM me your mobile number so I can give you a bel? Where in Melbourne are you? I'm in Doncaster East, 3109.....

It will be easiest to talk with you first seeing you're in Melbourne :) I'm also discussing a LCD panel with another member from the USA, so it would be good to see what we can negotiate.

Looking forward to your reply.

Hello everyone,
Some progress on this:

I have ordered from an Ebay reseller the->

1) Conmplete lid-assembly, minus the LCD panel and inverter
2)Complete hinge and LCD-cable assembly
3)Dimm door cover

Depending on the bezel I receie, which should be this week, I will buy either an XGA or SXGA+ LCD panel from 2 forum members, which have PM'ed a while back.

I am still looking for a modem daughtercard, and then a bluetooth card, and/or cable assembly for the BT. also, a PC speaker for the X60/X61. And then last, but not least, a harddrive door cover - the small plastic bit on the side of the X60

Would appreciate if you can contact me.

Ah, some feedback.

Good progress here. I have received the new Dimm cover, and, as an added bonus, it still has the OEM Vista Business license on it - lol.

I also managed to install the 2nd hand (albeit virtually new)lid assembly, with fingerprint reader, and cable- and hinge kit, sadly without fingerprint cable....ok for now, all I need is the inverter, and LCD.

I will probably grab the unit off one of the members here he has for sale, and I am awaiting the harddrive door cover - should have it next few days.

At least I can close the lid now, and it starts looking like a tablet.....yeay.

Still need a battery, which is priority 2 after the LCD/inverter.

Then, lower priority, a modem daughtercard, as well as BT daughtercard with cable.

Anyone has any of these items for sale, please give me a holler :)

Best regards,
mrbean

@ Rek: LCD installed, and up and running - the 1400x1050 looks great, thank you mate.

One stuck pixel though, but I will live with that, no worries. Struggling to get the wacom digitizer started though, will disassemble and check cable connection again.

At least I have a working setup, a big step-up from the base I bought of a forum a while back. Nice to see it up and running, finally :)

Hi all,
This is no doubt a long shot, but does anyone else have a SXGA+ panel for the X60T for sale or a know of a reliable source for one (preferably in Australia but will look elsewhere if need be).
Just purchased an X60T after lurking here for some time (great forum guys :)) and wanted the higher res but couldn't find one for sale anywhere at a reasonable price.
If I could find one I'd also have the XGA panel spare which I'd be happy to shift on to someone else.

If posting in this thread is a problem, I apologise - let me know and I'll start a new one - just saw all the parallels and thought it was quite a coincidence :)

Thanks for looking & keep up the great work, once my tablet arrives I hope to become a contributor.
