OK, I'm a smart guy, but I've looked all over the Lenovo support site, PS2REF, searched here, and I'm still confused.

Are the X60 and X61 batteries interchangeable, and incompatible with the X60s and X61s models?

OR

Are the X60 and X60s batteries interchangeable, and incompatible with the X61 and X61s?

Or are they ALL interchangeable and compatible with each other? (I do know the tablet's a different animal...at least I think so).

This is for a client. Thanks.

The 'S' models (X61s and X60s) can take all three batteries: 4 cell slim (prismatic), 4 cell enhanced (cylindrical), 8 cell.

The non-S models (X61 and X60) can accept all but the 4 cell slim.

The S models are a lower profile and are the only ones than can use the slim. If you have an S, you will also need to use the spacer (usually comes if you get a Lenovo Brand one) for the two larger batteries.

And yes, the tablet is a different animal.

Above info applies to the 3 available internal batteries that mount in the back of the machine; I have no experience with the Extended battery or ultra bay battery.
