X60 Bluetooth LED Bad?

#1 Post by garysblim » Tue Apr 21, 2009 10:09 pm

Hi:

I just got a x60 with docking station at a good price (used) and managed to install XP on it. After much effort, everything seems to work fine (even bluetooth) but the LED under the screen doesn't seem to turn on even with the radio on. Is there something I may be missing or it's probably a bad LED?

Thanks,

Gary

the LEDs are software-independent AFAIK, so if the BT works but the LED doesn't, it's likely just a bum LED

Thanks. That's what I figured. I guess I'll get a replacement of the LED somewhere. One more project for me in the summer. :)

The inverter has the LED's attached directly under the LCD bezel. Inverters are very cheap.

Replacing one bad LED would drive anyone crazy unless they were an expert with tiny electrical components.

If there is any warranty left I am almost sure this would be covered.

Thanks for the tip, Brad. I think I'll do that. Do I have to take the LCD off before taking off the bezel? Before doing that, I'll see if the warranty is out or not. :)
