Hi,
is it difficult to change ?
Cause my laptop is no more under warranty and I have several cracks in it.
Thanks

Well, you have to remove every single part and screw from the X60 to do this, so it is a complete disassembly/reassembly. If you follow the hardware maintenance manual step by step it is doable, but if you've never done a similar replacement before you need to be methodical on labling parts for reassembly, and taking (lots of) pictues is recommended. Also be aware that the new base will not have any stickers, so you need to record the COA and machine type/serial for future use.

Harryc's advice above is precisely how you should proceed with disassembling any laptop. However, let me give you a little encouragement in this case: the X60 is extremely simple to disassemble, and it is very easy to change its base cover.
After you remove the keyboard and the palm rest, 6 screws release the LCD panel from the base (2 for the cable + 2 for each of the 2 hinges), and then 2 or 3 screws release the motherboard and the power connector from the base.
When reassembling, make certain that when you place the motherboard back into the new base, the Wireless On/Off switch on the front edge of the board fits the slider's "slot". This is the only "delicate" and easy to overlook aspect of the procedure.
You don't even have to disconnect the antennas.
One tool is essential before you begin: the correct Phillips screwdriver, i.e., one that fits the screws perfectly. If you do not have a precision Phillips screwdriver size PH-1, then get one before you start the adventure. (Do NOT use an ordinary, non-precision, Phillips screwdriver, even if it appears to fit the screws.)
Good luck!

Also like to point out... Highly recommended you invest in a static wrist strap and connect yourself to ground throughout disassembly/reassembly.

You'll have the top housing off before you get to the bottom piece, so I wouldn't worry about that. Also, I'm pretty sure the COA is on the memory slot cover, so you can just put the existing memory slot cover on the new base and not have to worry about saving the sticker.

To ALL:
I have managed to do it.
It was the first time I opened a notebook and it was really not difficult.
Took me something like 40 minutes.
Thanks again for your advices.
