Ok,
So I know the the obvious hurdle with upgrading WLAN on thinkpads, the whole 1802 error or whatever number.
I was able to install another WLAN module right next to the Lenovo one, disabled the Lenovo adapter, and got NADA off the other WLAN adapter even though the drivers are in and nothing seems out of order.

Also,
Not sure if it's just mine, but what's the F'ing deal with lenovo putting LOCTITE on the ****ing screws for the WLAN?
Are we supposed to send to a depot if the WLAN dies???

I've just replaced WLAN 3945ABG with 4965AGN (FRU 42T0865) on my X61T, no problem at all. The new device has been found and functioned with existing driver.

I agree with you about those stubborn mini-PCI screws. I stripped the screw head and it's almost too late before I decided to grab another screwdriver from electrician lab in my office, which easily remove those screws. I also found that there was no loctite but some blue nylon coated on screw threads which make the screw so difficult to remove :(

have u tried to tape pin 20?

pin 20 taped with tesa

on the other hand i think that i remember that ive read a post some days ago saying that the left slot only supports the "pci express bus" and the right slot only "usb bus", not both at the same time. but this might not be true.

would be intressting to see if the wlan card works in the left slot.

by the way, i also have the probs with the screws
