thermal shutdown x60s ?

#1 Post by ddx » Sun May 17, 2009 2:24 pm

Hi,

Past weeks had some sudden shutdowns, mainly when playing games or movies.
I found some threads about thermal shutdowns on this forum.
but they say the thermal shutdown will only happen at 100c ?

i installed Core Temp and It looks like the shutdown happens arround 80c ?
normal idle temp (when browsing the internet is between 60c a 70c)

In the eventlog i see a lot of these errors :

Code: Select all

The previous system shutdown at 21:04:32 on 17-5-2009 was unexpected.

The speed of processor 1 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report.
any ideas or should I just go for a warranty replacement/repair ?

System is running vista sp2

If you have warranty, take it in.
