Silly question i know, but I i have two unknown devices in my hardware list.

1x PCI Serial Port
Hardware Id's

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A07&SUBSYS_20D417AA&REV_0C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A07&SUBSYS_20D417AA

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A04&CC_078000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A04&CC_0780

This install is fresh from the System Restore, yet these two devices will not install. I've tried all drivers from the ibm site but it will will not find the correct drivers.

My X61s is a 7669-3JG yet it does not state on the IBM site that he does have such a device, yet all other devices are working corectly. (including modem)

Go to this page:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... -WARNTY#sw

Enter your model number and serial, and then click onto "parts originally shipped with this system" link on the next page. That should resolve any doubts about what the unit is equipped with.

download PCItree
http://www.pcitree.de/
this free to use tool shows the devices on the pcibus sometimes with vendor ;)

or download
http://www.drivermax.com/
a free tool which downloads missing/latest drivers for most devices.

Nope, that's the Intel AMT system. Install those drivers and you're golden!

Will be better to disable 'Intel AMT' in BIOS. 99% of people don't use it at all

Just out of vain attempt to advise anyone else unluck enough to stumble accross this page.. I'm building an old X61 (7674) laptop with Win 7 to be used as a 'holiday' machine for surfing onm hotel wifi , playing dvd content..etc and came across the two same missing drivers..both were fixed when I firstly downloaded the bluetooth drivers from the Lenovo drivers site (1) and the second (2) was the AMT 2.6 driver.
Both of the failed devices then sparng into life...

(1) http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc ... bv19ww.exe
(2) http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc ... r204ww.exe

Also had to replace a cracked screen...got one of ebay for £13..almost the same model (LTN121XJ L02) which is working fine...also bought a new 8 cell battery for £14 ..will have to see what the battery life is like.

I actually own 4 thinkpads now...I relaly like them as they're easy to repair and well built..
