I have an X60 battery (ASM: 92P1174/FRU: 93P5030) that's covered under the recall. I called IBM, and they said the only way batteries are now verified is via the software utility. The problem I have, is that the X60 I'm working on is far from operational. To the point that I'm hesitant to actually take the time to repair it.
So, the advice: Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can get this battery exchanged without having to build the computer first? There used to be a form online that I could enter the battery SN, and it would tell be if it was recalled or not.
Anyone near Boston have an X60 or X61 that I can use for about 10 minutes online?
