X61t Digitizer not working after LCD reinstall - SOLVED

#1 Post by TheMollusk » Sun Jul 19, 2009 9:25 am

I just had an annoying problem which is now solved, and want to post here just in case someone else has the same problem.

I booted up into windows with the digitizer removed. After putting all the hardware back to normal, the digitizer would not work at all. In Pen tablet properties, it said 'A Supported tablet was not found'. All 4 drivers seemed OK and had no errors, but the pen would not move the mouse or anything at all.

Anyway, I installed another copy of windows and the digitizer worked in that straight away. So the digitizer was OK, it was windows that was confused. To get it working again in my regular windows install I started uninstalling drivers for the WACOM listed under HID Devices in Device Manager. I uninstalled the Virtual Pen HID Driver first, then another one (not sure which it was).

Anyway, on rebooting, Windows has now found a new device called WACOM Serial Pen Tablet, and it is all working again.
Strangely enough, windows still says 'Supported tablet not found" in the Pen Tablet control panel application. However it may have always said this, I am not sure I've ever opened this control panel item before now.
