X60 update BIOS without a battery

#1 Post by beastking » Fri Aug 21, 2009 3:48 am

Hi All,

I have X60 but my battery was dead. I cannot update BIOS with only AC power. Is there any method to update the BIOS without a battery ?

Thanks a lot.

There is a method using a diskette that worked for older Thinkpads. I don't recall having seen anyone try it on any of the recent generations of Thinkpads. Most people just buy a battery ;). By the way, the Lenovo outlet has a few scratch & dent batteries for sale again. $38.70 for an X60 series battery...that is quite a deal.

Careful there. That's an X60s Slim Line battery, and beastking has an X60. That won't fit.

Thanks for your information Harryc. I always use AC power with my X60. I don't want to buy a battery for upgrade the BIOS only. So it there any other method to do it ? Such as ignore the checking of the battery Status ?
