Is Seagate HDD with G-sensor compatible with HDAPS?

X60/X61 series specific matters only.

Is Seagate HDD with G-sensor compatible with HDAPS?

#1 Post by CyberDude » Fri Sep 11, 2009 9:11 am

Has anyone installed one of these Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500GB 7200RPM SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (ST9500420ASG) in their x60s? I'm wondering if the G sensor interferes with the Thinkpad's own HDAPS system?

EDIT: Also, I'd be interested to hear how battery life is impacted. this is supposed to be one of the lowest power drives out there. But I have a 5400K 250G drive so wondered if it's be worse or better.

I have one in an X61s, and haven't noticed any problems (yet). It is running Windows 7 RTM. I haven't used it enough since I cloned over the drive to that Seagate disk to know for sure, but out of the box it seems to work fine.

Thanks. Have you noticed any drop in battery life?
