Mark on laptop screen

Any advice/explanation would be welcomed for this marking at the bottom of my X60 screen, see image at

I have faded bleached patches on an older X32, but haven't seen this sort of 'watermark' before.

I will be traveling in Africa with this laptop for 5 months and depend on it for editing photos, so concerned about any defect that might deteriorate.

Welcome to the forum!

From what I can tell that's moisture trapped within the LCD itself, between the layers. There's no getting it out, and it might get worse over time, but I wouldn't be putting any money on giving the actual prognosis on how much worse, or how fast...

Many many thanks for taking the trouble. I sort of guessed that might be the cause. Much more visible at an angle (as I shot it) rather than square on. Just bought the used X60 and will return. Do people really clean their screens by sloshing water on!
