Windows 7 and X61 Tablet
Windows 7 and X61 Tablet
I'm having big problems getting my tablet pc to work in windows 7 ultimate 64-bit (RTM 7600). Pen doesn't work, screen rotation doesn't work (not automatically nor by pressing the rotate button), audio doesn't work either.
I have used windows update, lenovo driver download site, lenovo system update tool and the wacom site to try and get some drivers. With audio the funny thing is that lenovo has a windows 7 64-bit audio driver for x61 tablet on their site, i get it, and of course it won't install cause it says it's incompatible.
There must be something I'm missing here. Any help, please?

It's odd that you are having problems with this. The pen should "just work" because all of the drivers and support for it are built into Windows 7. This makes me suspect that you may have a bad installation DVD. I would check its MD5 before attempting another install.
I've had several of the Beta and RC Win 7 x64 builds on my X61T including the present RTM version. All have installed without a hitch. The installs were done by first doing a clean install from the DVD, then visiting Windows Update (WU). At this point almost everything is working. WU offers and installs the correct Lenovo ACPI power management driver, and the correct sound and video drivers. All that is missing are the following Lenovo drivers, which can be added last:
1. System Interface Driver
2. Tablet Button Driver
3. Hotkey Features
4. Active Protection System
That's all that I've found necessary to do through the various installs.

K0LO,
Thanks for the info. I'm grabbing the retail version now just to be on the safe side, it'll take a while for me to get it but I'll post again once I get to work with it.

Re: Windows 7 and X61 Tablet
Ok so I have windows 7 installed and I ran lenovo system update first and got the chipset driver from intel and then ran windows update. When I looked into my control panel under Tablet PC Settings and tried to click "Setup..." under the Display / Configure section, I got an error message, saying something about not finding a digitizer device. Then I went to the wacom site and got the latest driver for Wacom Tablet PCs. Then I went back to the Control panel and to the same place and now it says under details : "Pen Input Available". I go again to try and setup my pen and touch displays and this time I get the screen which says "Tap this screen with your tablet pen to set it as the Tablet PC screen". I try to tap it all I want but it doesn't take any input, so I press esc again to get out. Next I try to use the Calibrate function, but same problem appears there, it simply doesn't detect any input from me.
I recently had the hinge on my x61 tablet repaired, could it be that it somehow messed up my tablet pc input?
Or could it be that I need to activate windows 7 before it gives me access to all the updates?
