Windows 7 on Thinkpad x61 overheating

Hi,

I installed Windows 7 and Thinkvantage 4.0 on my X61. Everything works fine except for one thing. My laptop gets considerable hotter than it used to on Vista. This happens especially when I am playing video. So I downloaded SpeedFan to see exactly how hot it gets and I see that it goes over 60C. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks.

There's nothing to fix. 60*c is an excellent temperature under load.

There's actually a lot to fix with the X61 thermal characteristics, but it's not the CPU temperature, I agree. It's mostly how hot the right palmrest gets. And it cannot be fixed as far as I know except by dumping the X61 for a different machine. :(

Which part of the laptop gets hottest for you? Does turning WiFi off help?

Thanks guys for all the replies.

It gets hot on the lower right side, even though I usually keep wifi off since I don't use it at home or at my office.
