X60T LCD is pink when viewed at angle

#1 Post by mpcook » Sat Oct 31, 2009 1:21 pm

Hi, just bought an X60 Tablet (thankfully has onsite warranty for 1.5 years). I have two problems with it and will be calling for warranty service but want to get an opinion on this one issue before the tech comes out.

I have the screen set to black background all the time so I notice that when the room is dim, and I am looking at the screen from more than roughly a 45 deg angle, it has a slight pink tinge. I have seen pink before in the past on a few other Thinkpads, as a precursor to the screen going dead. This is a bit more subtle and only at an angle, but I wonder if this is normal for this machine/screen, or am I seeing the beginning of a screen death - and will I be able to get it replaced based on just this symptom - or do I have to wait for it to go? I have to say, when I am close to looking straight on, it looks just fine, very nice LCD.

Thanks for your advice.
Mike

Having owned several X60 tablets with a variety of configurations/operating systems installed, I'll say that I've never seen anything close to what you're describing. My gut feeling says that there's something wrong with that screen.

As for getting it replaced, I'd wait a bit more and then complain of LCD getting dim...
