Help! X60 makes interference noise while using trackstick

I just recently bought a practically mint X60 with a core2duo 2.0ghz, 2 gig ram, 120 gig hd. Luckily it has Lenovo warranty still intact. Its making an interference type noise and usually gets worse when I use the trackstick. Any idea what this could be? I don't want to bring it to the shop if its an easy fix. Also that way i would know what it is and describe it better. Seems to be running alright minus this noise. Thanks Chris

Well, if it's a trackpoint issue, that is a part of the keyboard assembly which is a CRU (Customer replaceable). So, call it in as a defective keyboard, and replace it. Overnight shipping from Lenovo is not unusual. Great service.

I was worried that it might be something under the trackstick, as the keyboard and trackstick work perfectly. I have the 3 year extended warranty and I think it includes onsite service as well as a couple of local providers.

Oh, if you have on-site don't even hesitate. Have them fix whatever it is.

Some Core Duo and C2D machines emit a relatively quiet, but high-pitch buzzing noise when on battery power. It gets more pronounced when you're scrolling. Just google "Core Duo" and "buzzing" and you'll get plenty of information. I don't understand the technical explanation, but apparently its common to certain Intel chipsets.

I will have to search into this, but I still have to contact service as I have one dead pixel, shame to replace over one, but we will see whats covered.
