Intel 5350 WiMax issues

I've installed Zender's BIOS, finally removed the old network card and installed an Intel 5350 WiMax card. Downloaded the latest Intel drivers and the WiFi part works fine. Connects @ 300 Mbps to my access point. However, even under Device manager, there is no mention of WiMax. The drivers seem to install OK but I just can't see anything.
Has anyone here installed a WiMax card and did it show up/work ?

The Intel 5350 & 5150 WiMax cards supports two technologies - PCIe & USB signals - The PCIe part supports the WLAN function & the USB part supports the WiMax function - It is likely (as with the T60/p series) that your X60 WLAN slot supports only the PCIe function of the card.
I have tested an Intel 5350 in my T60p and can confirm the WLAN PCIe slot supported only the WiFi function while the WWAN slot supported the WiMax function.

It's in the X61 but basically you're saying I can have WiFi *or* WiMax and can't just toggle between them ?

Yes - very much so - Try installing the Intel 5350 into the WWAN slot, you should be able to see the WiMax function, however you may be lucky that your X61 WWAN slot may support both technologies

Wimax in the WWAN slot but putting my 8755 in the WiFi slot makes in invisible

and thw wifi, although visible as a device, can't see any access points.
This is disappointing as I was hoping to get any connection at anytime without performing surgery every time. Oh well, WiMax will be the loser this time.

I hear your pain! - I believe only the newer ThinkPad's support the Intel 5150 & 5350's cards (and therefore will have their WLAN slot's that supports both technologies)

Ooops... I was thinking to get a 5350 for an X61T too. Seems it's better to stick with the 5300.
BTW, the X6x-series use the full-height version of Mini PCIe adapters...?

If you mean does it use the ones that are the same height as the 5300,4965 etc then yes, the screw holes to attach them to the motherbaord are full height. On my X60 and X61 anyway.
