Hello

Please excuse the translation from French into English.

Here is my problem

After a fall of 20 cm, the x60 will not boot normally, startup menu appears after XP by offering:
Safe Mode
Safe Mode Network
Last Known Good Configuration
windows normally

With safe mode, there is a blue screen with message "UNMOUNT BOOT VOLUME" and then reboot.

With Last Known Good Configuration, blue screen and restart

With Windows normally blue screen and reboot.

So I used Hiren's boot cd version USB key, I enter the menu and I chose HDD Regenerator, it finds many bad sector repair it after 02 days then a message asking me to edit in the bios Option for SATA AHCI or IDE AUTO.
switch off your computer, then switch it on to reset , start the process again
if your SATA controller works in AHCI mode, change it to compatible IDE mode (in the system BIOS)

I made the change and then restarted HDD regenerator that always works.

If HDD generator how do I find the original Windows and or how to retrieve data on the disk?

Thank you

Welcome to the forum.

If you can find a Windows XP disk (not recovery disks) boot from it. Follow the instructions to the recovery console. Once there run chkdsk /r. This should fix your problem.
