X61s Issues and Moving to a country w/o Lenovo Support

I had purchased my X61s last year with 3 year extension on the warranty. The computer has been running hot, even after a mobo replacement, and the wrist pad literally makes my right palm sweat (the notorious wifi). I got frustrated recently contacted Lenovo executive complaints.

I am soon moving to Caribbeans for Medical School. 16 months on an island without lenovo support... it freaks me out. If I have to ship my machine back to US, the estimated charges are $150 at minimum with weeks of transit time. UNLESS, lenovo ships me the box, which would be fine in terms of shipping cost but in regards to schooling, it will be a disaster.

I seriously thought selling and rebuying something, but at this point with all the investment into x61s (3 yr warranty, dock + optical drive, 4gigz ram) I will be loosing far too much to be able to digest.

Anyone got any suggestions ? I really like the size and functionality of X61s however I am not comfortable with the build quality. (rattling lid, machine heating up, stuck pixel on the screen) I would be happy if I get a comparable replacement of X61s be it a refurb, with the left over of my 3 year warranty. At least it wont be physically uncomfortable to me !

Thanks

You can look up to see if you've got IWS, which may cover you in the Caribbean.

I have checked and while the machine has IWS, the island I am going on does not have any service locations/partners.
