Windows 7 and SSD on X60 Tablet

Highly recommended so far. I am all grins. So glad to be rid of Vista. As I find issues I'll post them here.

I spent about 30 minutes figuring out how to turn off all the eye candy (not all but most). Glass is off, everything is black and it looks very nice.

The tablet rotate button on the display rotates VERY quickly now. No automatic rotation just yet, but as that always annoyed me, I'm not even interested in figuring out why it doesn't work. I do not have Active Protection installed due to the SSD not having any moving parts. Perhaps that driver is related to the screen rotation?

Glad to be rid of the R&R partition. I never was able to be rid of it before due to the fact they never gave me OS discs. I'm using Acronis for back ups.

Yes, it is. The screen position is determined by the accelerometer and to have that working requires Active Protection to be installed. Also, auto-rotation requires the Tablet Shortcut Menu driver for access to the settings that control it.

But I agree with you. I don't want my tablet trying to decide what position it thinks I want the display to be in. Inevitably it often makes the wrong decision. I turned that feature off long ago.

So you have installed an SSD in your X60 tablet. What improvements have there been to the performance ie speed, heat etc. Did you have a 7200 before. How much did it cost.

I have an X61 and am always looking for ways to improve it.
