Can anyone point me in the right direction to get an infrared cover for my X60S.
It's the cover in front of the firewire port on the right. I think it is part of
the miscellaneous parts package #41V9741 but I'm not sure.
Thanks in advance

Tim, that small cover is actually integrated into the larger keyboard bezel assembly. I just replaced a keyboard bezel on an X60 a couple of weeks ago for this same issue.
The part numbers for an X60s bezel are here...it goes by model # -

You can see it in the bottom left hand corner of this picture -
Same here, it sticks out above the rest of the bezel in the lower left hand corner there....obviously it would be on the right front side of the X60s if you flipped the bezel over.

Harry to the rescue again!
Thanks for confirming my thoughts that the cover was part of the lower housing.
I'd sure like to find out what's in that miscellaneous parts package #41V9741 though!
l think I'll just make something to fit. I don't use infrared, so it's just for esthetics.

If you get something that fits in there good, post your results here. My "first" X60 arrived with this cover missing. Only flaw that I can detect so far on that system.

I pays to be a pack rat! I have left over parts from a 240 which includes the IR cover.
Of course it's nowhere near the size needed for the X60S but the material is correct
as is the color.
It could be these covers tend to disappear because a previous owner, or some mishap, broke the flange so the cover dropped out.
Harry is correct in that the IR cover pate is a (seperate) part of the upper cover. It slides in from the bottom and jams into two tabs at the top which presumably hold it in place. Not too securely it seems!
It is everyones lot in life to correct misplaced screws that someone just forced into whatever screw hole was in front of them. I had two misthreaded so badly that their brass bushings pulled out, so they had to be delt with before I could remove the upper cover..
Anyway a little Dremel work and a dab of crazy glue and all is well.
I imagine that any material, plastic or even just hard black card would do just as well.
It will be interesting to see if I get any more heat build up on that side since I've sealed up that small opening but so far there's no difference.
