Tablet buttons only go down plus other oddities after repair

I took my x61t to get a replacement LCD hinge. When I got it back, I started to notice odd things.
First, if I put the machine to sleep by closing the screen, the keyboard stopped working. This doesn't happen if I put the machine to sleep first then close the screen.
Second, the tablet buttons (next to the fingerprint reader) cause the cursor to go down only. No up, no right and no left.
Thinking the problem was software related (I installed Windows 7 on a couple of weeks ago), I booted Ubuntu from a Live CD. The tablet buttons only go down. I then booted the machine with my original hard drive which still had Vista on it. The tablet buttons didn't work properly and the sleep problem was exactly the same.
I am guessing that something wasn't connected correctly when the machine was put back together after the hinge was replaced. I plan to take the machine back to the service center on Monday. But because the repair was done on the day the warranty expired last week, I am expecting some pushback from them.
Does anyone know where the closed LCD switch is located. I can't see anything on the base so I am thinking it is somewhere around the hinge. And can anyone think of a connection between this switch, the keyboard not waking up and the tablet buttons working to move in only one directlon?
I look forward to your ideas. Thanks.
