X60s screen replacement question

I have a thinkpad x60s with a cracked LCD screen. I have already taken the screen out of the case and i have been looking for a replacement. I was planning on just getting the same exact screen as the one that is broken but I thought i would ask if there was a better one or maybe a cheaper one I could put in. Thanks!

Some eBay screens are relatively cheap $100 to $130 shipped but
you may run into the odd dead pixel or small blemish unless it's new.
Either way it's better than a broken screen!

Determine if you have the "regular" screen or the UltraLight screen. If the UltraLight (manufactured by TMD), then the only replacement is one identical to the original.

the broken screen i took out was a boehydis ht121x01-101. So i guess what im asking is can i replace it with a different screen that would be compatible and fit in the mounts? or is my only option to replace it with a new identical ht121x01-101? thanks

Most of the screens you see on eBay are actually "compatible" screens. That's why they cost less.

Unfortunately, the same manufacturer's part number does not guarantee the same screen. If you want to be certain, you need one with a Lenovo FRU sticker for an X6 machine. My best example was the same Samsung part numbers were sold with T4x and T60 machines. The T60 version had a later revision number and included an eeprom with configuration information. The T4x version was made without the eeprom. Starting a T60 without the eeprom will not work and sometimes damaged the motherboard.
