I clean installed win7 32 on a new HDD last week. Everything went just fine and Lenovo toolbox updated what was needed. I have a few issues that I cannot resolve and would appreciate help. Thanks in advance.

1. When I put the laptop in a Sleep mode, then put it in my bag and walk with it, it wakes up. I even tried to simply carry the laptop a few steps and saw that it woke up. It is not the wireless magic packet thing as it is not check.
2. I tried once the hibernate and it was a disaster. The system did it thing and never went to full sleep. Just got stuck somewhere in space and I had to remove battery and re boot.
3. I can drive a 2nd monitor off the ultrabase. But it will work if I connect the projector/display via the vga port on the laptop.

I just spoke to Lenovo support. I was told they do not have win7 drivers for this machine (Presentation Director only for xp and vista). how disappointing.

Hi chait! Just to clarify, there are Windows 7 drivers for the X61s on the Lenovo support site. There is no Presentation Director because Windows 7 provides almost the same features.

bananaman: you are correct. I think that I was working with a bad cable. I have been able to drive an external projector with a different cable (I should have tried that before posting here...sorry).

I de-selected the Enable Always On USB in Lenovo Power Manager (Global Power Settings tab). So far the laptop does not wake up wake sleep mode when I move it around. I am yet to play with hibernation mode again.

Turns out there can be many devices that can wake up the machine from sleep mode. This link solved my problem: http://www.cravingtech.com/fix-windows- ... tself.html. I essentially disabled any of my devices (keyboards, mice, modem, and network cards) from being able to wake up the computer.
