Your CPU temperatures and CPU fan status.

#1 Post by marYn » Thu Apr 01, 2010 5:50 am

Hello everyone, I'm new to X6x forum, I've just bought older X60 but I have some experience with my previous X31 laptop. With my new laptop I've started to fine tune it and I'm curious what temperatures I should expect. It seems X60 runs hotter than X31. It's a pity X60 low clock is 1GHz with a minimum of 0,95V. Underclocked PM 1,4 of X31 was able to operate at 600MHz/0,75V at 35-40°C (95-104°F)

Could you please post your temperatures and whether fan is running with L2400, T2400 and Core 2 Duos?

X60, Core Solo T1300 1.66GHz, Win7
Idle: 48-53°C (118-127°F)
Load: up to 68°C (154°F) with standard voltage; 1,66GHz@1,1V lowers it by 10°C
CPU fan is running mostly all the time both while idle or under load. Ambient temperature 20°C (68°F)

EDIT:
Windows XP: Idle 43°C

Thanks for your effort!

Maybe not what you want ... a different model
I am using X61 tablet, core 2 L7500 win7
using tpfancontrol to control the fan speed.
cpu temperature around 40°C~49°C and fan speed level=0;
when running movie or some 3d games around 69°C fan speed level=3

Same experience here, X31 (1.7GHz) runs MUCH cooler than X60 (2GHz, C2D). Using NHC, undervolted, temps float between 49-55c. That's NHC's fan setpoints. MAXed out I've seen temps up to 72c ... very much under the 100c max (critical )temp spec'd by Intel.

BTW, I too think the 1GHz low speed clock is WAY too high for a portable.

Yes I agree. It's a pity that 1GHz speed can't be undervolted under 0,95V. I think it would run at 0,8 or maybe even lower.

Thanks to you all for the info so far. And yes, knowing what temp is X61T running is useful as well. Thanks.

X61t with 1.6ghz cpu.

I'm using TPFC and RMClock. The cpu is usually around 55-66c. There's usually some streaming flash video and/or virtual machine (VMWare) running. Also the laptop is in tablet mode attached to 2nd monitor at 1920x1200. :D

It's now at 56c and the fan is going at 3400rpm
X22 - 800mhz - 640MB RAM - 60GB Hitachi 7200rpm 7k100
X40 - 1.4ghz - 1.5GB RAM - 8GB Transcend 300x CF on Addonics CF/IDE Adapter
T42p - 1.8ghz - 15" UXGA - 1GB RAM - 160GB HDD
X61t - C2D 1.6ghz - 12.1" SXGA+ - 8GB RAM - Intel G3 300GB SSD

X61 w/ T7300@2ghz
Idles at 43-47C with standard voltage, bios fan control
watching videos on hulu gives a consistant 56C

I came across this post while searching for RMClock settings to undervolt my L7500 in x61t.

I can only lower the voltage to 0.9V, so I have multipliers (x6SLFM, x6 x7 x8) set to 0.9V/0.9V/0.9125V/0.925V.

For the temperature control, I use TPFanControl.

When I want silence, I set my fan control settings to Smart mode 2 (settings below), which I currently use for most of the time:
Level2=55 0
Level2=58 1
Level2=60 2
Level2=62 3
Level2=65 7
While surfing internet (mostly no flash), it's showing around 55-57 with no fan running at all. With intel SSD, it is absolute silence. Room temperature is around 26. I do feel the palm rest and keyboard gets a bit warmed up because no fan activity.

When I feel like I'm treating my tablet too bad, I switch back to Smart mode 1 (below is my setting), which have more cooler settings. Then it stays around 48-51. BTW, this is what it boots up in.
Level=46 0
Level=50 1
Level=52 2
Level=54 3
Level=56 7

When I manually keep the fan on at level 1, it shows 47-48 degrees.
