Hello,
I'm considering to buy a second-hand x60 that will probably come without bluetooth module.
Is the bluetooth module available somewhere or shall i get a thinkpad which alredy has the bluetooth option ?
Thanks in advance,
rzl

Hello rzl,
first you should download the HMM from here:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-62866
Take a look, in some cases you do not have a connector for the BT-Module at your LCD cable assembly.
LCD cable assembly with Bluetooth FRU 91P6971 would be fine for SPWG Display Versions.
For TMD Versions you need 91P6972
Bluetooth Daughter Card (BDC-2) is FRU 39T0497.

There is another, easier option.
Neither the used X41T or the X60 that I bought had Bluetooth. After checking the costs and procedures involved in putting 'factory' Bluetooth into them, what I did was buy a Toshiba Bluetooth SD card. I found a used, but virtually new one on a local electronic marketplace (Kijiji) for $30. I downloaded the latest drivers from Toshiba, installed and inserted the SD card. There is about 1/4" of the SD card that protrudes from the side of the laptop.
It works like a dream, can use it in multiple machines, quick, simple and cheap.

I was thinking of using one of those USB adapters. Due to the fact that there are few USB ports on my X-units, I decided to go the SD route. Nice price.

Having gone through adding bluetooth to two X60s I can say that it isn't an easy thing to do.
You'll need a new LCD cable as well as a BT module plus remove the LCD to install it!
You are better off finding a unit with BT already installed.
The $1.98 dongle isn't a bad idea but finding one in Italy might be a challenge.
